Some lavender plants are smaller and will only grow to be a 2 feet wide, other plants will grow to be much bigger, so when you are choosing what kind of lavender to plant in your garden make sure that the type of lavender plant will have the right amount of space to grow to its full size.
Lavender plants can grow in almost any type of soil, rocky soil that is poor in nutrients isn't really an issue for an established lavender plant. However in the first 6 months of growing you will want to make sure to give it fertilizer and make sure that the pH level in the soil is right or it might not grow to be as lovely as you might have been hoping.
Lavender plants are good for areas that don't get a lot of rain, they need well drained soil. When watering these flowers make sure that you give them a bunch of water and then let the soil dry out completely before watering them the same way again. Many people make the mistake of watering their lavender like it is one of their house plants.
